About the Event
The Dance Competition
A professional panel of masters in the dance will critique solos, duets, trios, and group work within classical ballet, modern and new age contemporary choreography. All choreography must be completed by the Division's age group requirements.
The Choreographer Competition
Based on the foundational elements of choreography: time, space, energy, and weight. The competition will accept Modern, Ballet, and Contemporary choreography or a fusion of the styles within these three categories. All work must be original choreography.
This competition doesn’t hand out trophies. This is a new platform for aspiring young choreographers to not only present their work but have a chance to receive up to a $1000 cash prize.
An overall winner will be selected to be commissioned to create work for the internationally renowned Nickerson-Rossi Dance Company under the guidance of Michael Nickerson-Rossi. Not only will this winner’s choreography be professionally photographed and filmed, but their work will also be presented at the Palm Springs International Dance Festival Spring Gala 2022.
