Nickerson-Rossi Dance (NRD), a professional internationally touring contemporary dance company and a non-profit 501(c)(3). NRD includes a world-renowned educational faculty that provides comprehensive dance education for youth at their Palm Springs Dance Academy. NRD provides outreach programs for the under-served communities of Riverside County and the nation at large with educational, therapeutic, and professional dance programming. NRD presents the Palm Springs International Dance Festival, a platform that encompasses all of its programs, that is a four-day annual event bringing students and art patrons of diverse backgrounds from across the nation together into Palm Springs, California. NRD aims to engage, inspire and ignite the mind, senses, and body by using dance as a language to reach the multicultural community at large.
The Palm Springs Dance Academy (PSDA) is the official school of the Nickerson-Rossi Dance Company. The Academy's mission is to provide comprehensive dance education for pre-professional dancers and to serve the community with enrichment, outreach, home school, and after-school dance programs. The faculty at Palm Springs Dance Academy will nurture and stimulate intellectual, artistic, and technical creativity.
Since 2013, NRD has been bringing dance to Palm Springs through educational programs that commission internationally recognized educators to make a lasting impact on youth here in Palm Springs by exposing them to the art of dance and providing further opportunities to those who wish to pursue dance as a professional career or a forever love. We aim to produce programs within the festival that have low or no cost to serve our greater desert communities at large and orchestrate performances that feature world renowned dance companies of all cultural and artistic backgrounds.
“The Platform” is a distinctive competition that focuses on
young choreographers, in addition to young dancers.
Technical abilities and artistic voices within classical Ballet, Modern, and new age Contemporary will be reviewed by a panel of masters in dance.
Additionally, there is a choreographer's division that solely focuses solely on composition.
